Hello loves! I wanted to take some time to write about something that has been a life changing opportunity for me! Many of you know that I am a Stella & Dot Stylist, but I also bet many of you wonder what the heck that even means. I get a lot of messages and the FAQs typically are: 1. What is the initial investment to become a Stylist, 2. What does a Stylist do?, 3. How much can I actually earn?, 4. Are there quotas?  If these are all questions you have had as well, then keep on reading girl 🙂

A little back story

I am the mama to 2 adorable little girls Brynley(5) and Brecklyn(2). I am also married and both my husband and myself work very full time. I co-own 4 women’s clothing boutiques with my parents, a kids boutique and I also now blog! The reason I share all of this with you is because … I’M BUSY! So lets just take that out of the equation because when people tell me they are “too busy” I want to throw my hands up and say “Hellloooooo” look at my life! Do you call this not busy, ha! What I hope you see while you’ve been following me is that you really CAN have it all, it just depends how bad you want it and how much you are willing to work for it!

Owning your own boutique is extremely rewarding, but something was missing for me back in January 2015. Brecklyn was 4 months old, I was just getting my “pre-baby” body back, boutique business was good but also very challenging, and my marriage was just “okay”. I’m honestly sharing all of this because I was in a slump! I was a new mom of two and just feeling BLAH! I was approached by a friend of mine to host an online Stella & Dot trunk show with our Apricot Lane customers. It was January, boutique business was slower, and I was already wearing the jewelry and posting it with my outfits, so I figured why not host a party and earn FREE jewelry!?  I had SO much fun hosting this party! After the party closed, she shared with me how much she made in commission off of my party, and after I saw how much I earned in free jewelry I decided to join. PAUSE: I strictly joined for the DISCOUNT! Yes the commission was enticing but it wasn’t about earning more to me, it was about the jewelry and the fun I had posting about it.

So I signed up, and became a Stylist

I knew I had nothing to lose because I paid $199 and got $450 in jewelry (promo at the time). If I could sell $1k in 30 days, I earned my $199 back! What did I have to lose? The worst thing that would happen is that I would score a major deal on jewelry! I didn’t sign a contract, I didn’t enter into a marriage, I wasn’t going to get penalized if I didn’t like it and quit — and heck I spent more at Target typically on random items! The worst that would happen is that I would have more of this super adorable jewelry in my closet. Okay, easy enough, I’ve got this! I immediately ordered my jewelry, started contacting friends and family that I had joined and just did my thing. HOLY COW! The commission starting flowing in. I was seriously shocked! The more I sold, the more I got addicted. There was a light that immediately switched back on that had been missing. Jena was back!

Why this opportunity changed my life

Now, I know what you are thinking – you see all of these direct marketing companies and everyone is talking about how much the “company” changed their life! Ladies, it’s the truth! For me, I needed another outlet to light my fire. I instantly felt excited again, I was making money doing something fun that I loved that didn’t even feel like work to me! The extra money lightened the load at home and slowly my marriage rekindled because I was a HAPPY person once again! My husband enjoyed me as his wife (happy wife happy life, right!?) I truly believe that if you are HAPPY, you will be a better wife/mother/friend/etc. Stella & Dot gave me back my joy. I have met the greatest of friends all because I took the leap of faith and paid $199 for a discount on fantastic jewelry! These friends are there for me daily: they motivate me to be better, they love me for me, they listen to me rant, they pick me up when I fall down, and best of all, they are SO fun to be around!

Your WHY should make you cry

Once I started this business everyone immediately asked me “What’s your why”? I was a little confused because I didn’t have a “why”. At the time I had a “what”. I wanted a Louis Vuitton and I didn’t have the extra money to buy one. Looking back it makes me laugh but that was my motivator at first. It wasn’t the reason that was going to keep me fighting for my dreams. It didn’t move me to tears, it didn’t pick me up when I was feeling down. I did get the purse though, thanks Stella 🙂

Once I realized that it was deeper than a purse, it truly changed me. I realized I needed Stella! I needed the friends, the unity I felt from the amazing community of women, the motivation I felt from the CEO (she is one legit #bossbabe), the LIGHT THAT IT LIT back in my life! Yes, the money is great and I can chat with you about that one on one if you are interested, but what I am really trying to drive home is that it can change your life for a lot of reasons unrelated to money. Maybe you need a creative outlet because you stay home with your kids? Maybe you wear scrubs all day and you want to get a discount on jewelry so you can dress cute on the weekends? Maybe you aren’t a girly girl and you are looking for a way to feel more girly? Maybe you are in a situation where you want to be thrown outside of your comfort zone (sometimes the one thing missing for people is a good ol’ challenge)! THERE ARE SO MANY REASONS beyond money that we women need from a company like Stella & Dot! For me, it gave me a part of myself back that I was missing. I was excited about something again!! I was looking every challenge in the face with a go-getter attitude! I wanted to earn trips and reach goals! I was competitive, and I saw a hustle in myself that was finally back!

How much is it to become a Stella & Dot Stylist?

For $199 you can start this life changing business. You will get $350 in jewelry that YOU get to select! It is essentially a business in a box that will show up at your doorstep! You also aren’t alone – there is a community of women there to help you get started!

What does a Stylist do?

A Stylist shares the jewelry to any and everyone in her path! This could mean booking trunk shows where you pack up your pretty jewelry for a ladies night out at a friends house, or this could mean sharing the style strictly online through social media! There are so many ways of doing it, but WE are the face of Stella & Dot!

How much can I actually earn doing this?

Would you believe me if I told you that we’ve had women leave their full time careers as teachers and lawyers and actually make MORE in one year with Stella than they ever did with their full time jobs?! Some women make $200 a month, and some women make $10-20k a month – the sky is the limit!

Are there quotas?

Nope! Again, this business is whatever you want it to be! Sure, there are special perks that active selling Stylists get that non-active selling Stylists do not get, but regarding “quotas” that is a big fat NO. You are your own boss girl!
