Our trip to Nashville in December

The most anticipated blog post ever! Sorry for the delay getting this done! As many of you know my blog crashed for an entire weekend and I lost all of my content I had typed. I then was able to restore everything and then I ended up traveling to LA immediately for my boutique and I’ve been crazy busy ever since! I am so sorry for the delay, I know many of you have been waiting on this for awhile now! Who knew boutique business would be busier than Christmas in January!

So back to business …

If you’ve been following me for awhile now, you know that my husband and I absolutely love going to Nashville. We go yearly around our anniversary (late fall) and then try and do another trip yearly with friends. There is so much to do you can go back monthly and never do or see it all!

This past trip we went with our good friends Jessa Helm (@jessajo7) and her husband Andrew. We had a blast! Typically when Ross and I go we get an Airbnb closer to 12th Ave. South. I love that area (fun fact I used to have a clothing boutique in 12th South). The area is near the Frothy Monkey and a lot of other iconic “places to stop” in Nashville. This trip however, we knew we were there to have fun with friends and spend our quick trip day drinking on Broadway. We ended up booking an Airbnb very close to Broadway. The location was AMAZING! We could literally walk down the street to Rippy’s, which if you follow Jessa and I closely, you are aware that Rippy’s is our absolute favorite! You MUST get a Bushwhacker when you go to Rippy’s, but be careful they sneak up on you!

Where we stayed

We found the CUTEST Airbnb this trip! We were seriously just down the street from the Bridgestone Arena and Broadway! We walked to downtown and walked back, it was amazing! The condo we stayed in has a balcony that has the best view. The condo is BRAND NEW and it comfortably holds two couples. We each had our own rooms and bathrooms which was amazing! The hosts Devon & Sabrina were great, and so kind to let us be the first to stay in their brand new condo! The decorating style is very historic and boho which is so fun! You will find all kinds of different styles when booking an Airbnb and that is one of the things I love most! Each room had a HUGE walk in closet and enough space to stay organized! The floor to ceiling windows were amazing because you all know how much I love that beautiful natural light. With renting this space, you also have access to the complex common areas (pool, weight room, lounge, rooftop patio).

Walking distance to Bridgestone Arena & Broadway
Both bathrooms are large and modern and clean, which I love!

Where we ate

I am a creature of habit! I need to probably get out more and explore but I typically find somewhere I love and then always make it a point to go back! Saint Anejo is always our very first stop when we get to town. We typically always arrive on a Thursday night. This place does not take reservations so just make sure to get there at a decent time (especially in the spring/summer/fall). On off season in Dec-Feb you should be okay. Their tacos are seriously to die for, some of my faves are chicken tinga, hot chicken and molida! Whatever you do, make certain you get the mexi corn as a side! I also highly recommend the sayulita margarita and your favorite shot of tequila chilled (it will be served with an orange slice with cinnamon on top).

Next on my list of faves and somewhere you MUST go to is Biscuit Love! They have two locations in Nashville – one in the Gulch and one in Hillsboro Village, and then also a location in Franklin. If there is one thing on the menu you have to order, it is the BONUTS!

Bonuts – thank me later! The best thing ever!

We also ate lunch at The Pharmacy this trip. Absolutely delicious. If you want the best burger ever make sure to check this place out. The tater tots are also delicious!

We checked out The San Antonio Taco Company (best Tex Mex in Nashville) for lunch! You walk in and order and then find a seat and once your number is called grab your food. The cheese queso is to die for! The tacos were amazing, and it was just a chill little joint with amazing food!

Where to shop

The shopping in Nashville is absolutely amazing! I personally love to shop in the Hillsboro Village area. Some of my favorites are Posh and Impeccable Pig. After brunching at Biscuit Love, you can easily just walk up and down the street (or scooter) and do all kinds of shopping! There are several boutiques in this area and it is hands down my favorite place to do my shopping. I would also suggest checking out the Gulch ( Two Old Hippies, Blush, Kittenish) and then of course 12th Ave South area ( Reese Witherspoon’s boutique Draper James is worth popping in and taking a picture outside).

Don’t gorget to check out Uncommon James! I’m sure you’ve already heard of it, but you can get the cutest jewelry as seen on the show Very Cavallari! It is actually on sale today for 20% off with code sweetsavings!

All wearing our Uncommon James goodies!

Our favorite bars

Again, being the creature of habit that I am, we always head to Winners & Losers Bar the first night we arrive (which is usually on a Thursday). This bar is not on broadway and tends to be one where more of the locals hang out. The bars are right next to one another, and you can honestly go back and forth if you wish. I love the Whiskey Jam they have at Winners, but I love the live bands they have at Losers! This is the place to get that orange drink I discussed on my Instagram stories. We ran into our friend Ethan and he was drinking this amazing drink, so of course we had to have one! It will come in a styrofoam cup and you just tell them you want the “orange drink in the styrofoam cup”. Hah, hope that helps!

I’ve already mentioned that we LOVE Rippy’s but I need to make sure to emphasize that once again. The food is amazing, the live music is amazing, the drinks are amazing, it is all around a good place. I recommend closing your tab frequently because a good time may result in you sitting at a table for 6 hours and getting one heck of a tab!! Don’t forget to make sure you order a Bushwhacker! If you show up and see that Jordan McCants is playing, do not leave! Seriously coolest guy ever and has an amazing voice! We also heard Zach McKenzie for the first time this trip (and we started him and Instagram page that I can see he isn’t posting on, haha) and his voice gave me goosebumps!!

Best singer ever, top right corner!

I sadly do not think I have any pictures from this bar because by the time we made it we were tanked, but this karaoke bar is SO fun to end your night at! Ms. Kelli’s is a great time – located in Printers Alley which is a few blocks away from Broadway. Actual address is 207 Printers Aly Nashville, TN 37201 – get a jello shot and request your favorite tune to sing!

Other bars to check out: Honky Tonk Central, Tootsies, The Stage, Luke Bryan’s Bar, Florida Georgia Line’s bar FGL House (they have THE BEST pretzel that comes with amazing dipping sauces and you have to try the bourbon bbq chicken flatbread). FGL House also has the very best outdoor rooftop patio!

Here is the listing page showing some other Airbnb options available with our host! Click this and it will take you to the listings! They were also so very kind to include a list of places to check out so if you would like more info I can send you all of that! The list was quite long to include in this post, but if you book with them they will be happy to offer loads of suggestions!

I will have another post coming soon going more in depth with other places we’ve stayed over the years and other cool places to check out! I will also post more about fashion and how to dress for your trip!

Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a great time if you are headed to Nashville soon!

xoxo,

Jena
